Norlan De Groot, M.Div
Norlan De Groot is the Southeast Asia Coordinator for MINTS International Seminary. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Dordt College and a Master of Divinity degree from Calvin Theological Seminary. He was also certified to teach English at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He has taught at the middle school, high school, college, and seminary levels, as well as serving in administrative roles. He has also served as a writer and editor for various magazines and book publishers. He is ordained as an elder in Redeemer United Reformed Church in Orange City, Iowa. Norlan and his wife Julie live in Sioux Center, Iowa. They have four children.

2007 – Present
Writer, Editor, Teacher, and Administrator
Since 2007, I have worked as a self-employed contract worker. I work remotely at home or in
travels to Southeast Asia. During this time, I worked primarily with the following five
organizations.
MINTS International Seminary
MINTS brings theological education to students in developing countries through a
distance education model. I write and teach theology courses for MINTS. I also work
with students online, and I travel to South Asia and Southeast Asia to teach students in
person.
Faithlife
Faithlife is the umbrella company for Logos Bible Software. I served as a contributing
editor for Logos, copyediting, and enhancing transcripts for their theology courses.
Kingdom Come Training
KCT trains missionaries to build their team of prayer and financial partners. I taught
online classes to missionaries around the world.
Word & Deed Ministries
Word & Deed Ministries is a diaconal ministry that provides help to the poor in the
developing world. I served as a promoter and a theological curriculum writer for Word &
Deed’s Curriculum Development Project.
Third Millennium Ministries
Third Millennium Ministries produces seminary-level Bible lessons and distributes them
around the world to train indigenous church leaders. I served as a theological curriculum
writer.
2001 – 2007
Director of Public Relations and Marketing Communication, Dordt College
Dordt College is a regional college located in Sioux Center, Iowa. I supervised three staff people,
administered the college’s public relations program, managed the college website, wrote and
edited marketing materials, distributed press releases, and coordinated a team of freelance writers
and editors.

Teacher, Mount Vernon Christian School
Mount Vernon Christian School is a K-12 school located in Mount Vernon, Washington. My
responsibilities included teaching Bible, American Literature, British Literature, Grammar,
Journalism, Public Speaking, and other classes in the high school.

Editor/Publisher, Community Publications
I owned and operated Community Publications, which published a monthly newspaper
distributed to new homeowners in Aurora, Colorado. I managed all aspects of newspaper
production including writing, editing, proofreading, layout, and design.

Chattanooga Christian School is a K-12 school located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I taught 7th
grade English and 8th grade Bible.

Student, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
UTC is a public university located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I attended UTC and earned a
certificate to teach English. Also, during this time, I worked as an editor at AMG International in
Chattanooga, Tennessee, where I coded Greek and Hebrew words for their specialty Bibles. I
served as an adjunct professor and administrator at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain,
Georgia. I also served as the Director of Education at Messiah CRC in Hudsonville, Michigan.

Assistant Editor, Christian Business Men's Committee
CBMC is a nonprofit ministry that serves Christian businessmen in the workplace. It is located in
Chattanooga, Tennessee. I served as the Assistant Editor for Contact Magazine. My duties
included writing articles for Contact Magazine, assisting with layout and design, and publishing
other CBMC periodicals as needed.
